Audi Crooks Off To An Amazing Start In This NCAAW Season

All things considered, two-time All-Big 12 center Audi Crooks is a major reason the Iowa State Cyclones Women’s Basketball Team are off to a 10-0 start this season. Crooks is top five in the nation in points per game, field goal percentage, and total field goals. What’s more, she is No. 1 in player efficiency rating. This is a rating of a player’s per-minute productivity.

A stat that likely explains why is Crooks is averaging more points per game (27.8) than minutes played per game (25.7). The 2024-2025 AP All-American set the school record for the most points in a game…twice. First, she put up 43 points on Nov. 12 versus Valparaiso and broke her own record with 47 against Indiana on Nov. 30. Here, she set the school record for field goals with 19.

Against in-state rival No. 11 Iowa, Crooks scored 30 points with 10 rebounds in the 74-69 win at home. It was her third double-double of the season and fourth game with 30+ points. Her place in Iowa State Women’s Basketball history is set as she’s near the top in several categories. Crooks is currently first in points per game, third in career field goal percentage and eighth in total points.

Is Crooks a Favorite to be the Big 12 Player of the Year?

Without question, she is a contender for Big 12 Player of the Year as the competition is strong within the conference. Former Notre Dame turned TCU guard Olivia Miles and teammate Marta Suarez each have a case for the honor. In this case, both players are in the top 10 in points per game as Miles is second in the Big 12 in assists per game.

However, a possible sleeper is Baylor guard Taliah Scott . The junior is second to Crooks in points per game and tied for second with Suarez in field goals.
