WNBA All-Star 2027: San Francisco Bay, the Home of the Golden State Valkyries

The WNBA announced on Tuesday, Aug. 18, the 2027 WNBA All-Star location: San Francisco Bay, home of the Golden State Valkyries. What exciting news not only for the WNBA but also for the fans of the Valkyries. Fun fact for those who don’t follow the WNBA as closely as others: this is only the second season for the Valkyries. For Golden State to have been selected as the host of next year’s All-Star Game is a significant honor. The All-Star events commence Friday, July 30 and the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game is on Saturday, July 31.

San Francisco Bay: Golden State Valkyries

What a thrilling week for Golden State; not only did they clinch a playoff berth, but they are also in second place in the standings with a record of 25-9. And now they have been selected as the host for next year’s All-Star weekend. This is the second consecutive year that the Valkyries have reached the playoffs. In their inaugural season in 2025, under first-time head coach Natalie Nakase, they finished with a record of 23-21, but were eliminated in the first round. The Valkyries have surpassed every expectation imaginable. It’s only their second season with a roster that is not seen as “superstars.”

Commissioner Cathy Engelbert shared the following statement:

“We are thrilled to bring an AT&T WNBA All-Star to the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. “The Golden State Valkyries have brought incredible energy and excitement to the WNBA from the moment they were announced as an expansion team in 2023, and the response from fans across the Bay Area has been remarkable. Valkyries fans have embraced this team with an extraordinary level of passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see that energy on full display for an unforgettable All-Star weekend next summer.”

Jess Smith, the President of the Golden State Valkyries, stated the following:

“Hosting the AT&T WNBA All-Star in only our second season is an incredible honor and a reflection of everything this fanbase, this region, and this organization have built together,” said Jess Smith, President, Golden State Valkyries. “From day one, the Bay Area has shown up for this team in a way that’s redefined what’s possible in women’s basketball, and we can’t wait to put that same energy on display for the entire league next summer.”

Fans attending and viewing the 2027 WNBA All-Star Game in the Bay Area can expect the following events:
