Walking It Off Down In North Carolina In The AUSL Cup

As Series One of the AUSL Cup nears the close, the games have delivered and more in front of sellout crowds at Ting Stadium. This time, the fans witnessed one team in search of their first win of the series and another for win No. 2. Team Blue, led by pitcher Aleshia Ocasio faced off against the 1-0 Team Gold, led by outfielder Amanda Lorenz. Now, here is a recap of the action from Holly Springs, North Carolina.

Game Four: A “K”lassic Ending In North Carolina

To begin, Tiare Jennings gave Team Blue the lead in the top of the first with an RBI single. Yet, Team Gold would answer in the bottom of the second with a solo home run from Delanie Wisz, tying the game. Ocasio’s squad would get the lead back in the top of the fourth with an Ocasio RBI double. Following scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth innings, the game was 2-1 entering the seventh in favor of Team Blue.

Rachel Garcia tied the game up 2-2 with an RBI double down the left field line. Ultimately, Kayla Kowalik ended it with a game-winning RBI to give Team Lorenz the 3-2 victory.

Kowalik would win MVP 1 honors as she went three-for four at the plate, including the RBI. Next, Garcia took home MVP 2 honors thanks to her RBI double. For Ocasio, she went three innings and allowed five hits while going two-for-three at the dish, earning MVP 3 honors. Finally, the defensive MVP honors went to Hannah Flippen.

What Is Next For Both Teams In The AUSL Cup?

Looking at Team Ocasio, they will face off against captain Georgina Corrick and Team Purple in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

For Lorenz and Team Gold, they will matchup versus captain Lexi Kilfoyl and Team Orange at 7 p.m. ET. Both games will take place in Greenville, North Carolina at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium on ESPN2.
