On Saturday, February 7, Unrivaled announced the full roster for the 1-on-1 Tournament. The tournament will take place on February 11, 13, and 14, starting at 7:00 PM ET. The final set of players will begin their matches at 10:45 PM ET on Wednesday, February 11. The tourney is set up in PODs, POD A-D. There are plenty of good matches, and each will showcase the players’ strengths and weaknesses. This is the second year of the 1-on-1 Tournament, showcasing a fun and unique aspect of the league.
Here is the complete list of the roster and players:
In POD A, the most mismatched matchup is between Kelsey Plum and Natisha Hiedeman. Plum is a versatile player who excels at attacking the rim and is also a strong three-point shooter. On the other hand, Hiedeman is known for her exceptional shooting from beyond the arc and is considered one of the best shooters in the WNBA. However, Hiedeman has difficulty attacking the rim and scoring in the paint. The key difference between the two players will be the defensive scheme utilized during their matchup.
In POD B, a key matchup to watch is between Arike Ogunbowale and Brittney Sykes. Sykes is likely to have the advantage in this matchup due to her strong defensive skills and ability to excel on both ends of the court. While Ogunbowale is recognized as one of the best offensive players in the WNBA, known for her shooting ability, she tends to struggle defensively. On the contrary, Sykes can effectively contribute to both offense and defense at any time.
In POD C, another key matchup features Marina Mabrey going up against Sonia Citron. Citron, a former rookie, faces an exciting challenge against the powerhouse Mabrey, who delivered an incredible performance last week in Philadelphia. This matchup is thrilling, as both guards are capable of excelling offensively. Mabrey plays with intense passion, and Sonia holds her own just as well.
In POD D, the matchup to watch is between Dearica Hamby and Shakira Austin. Both are strong forwards known for attacking the rim and pursuing loose balls. They each put their bodies on the line to contribute to their teams’ victories. This matchup features an exciting clash between a veteran and a rising young player, making it a thrilling spectacle for fans.
