Solid and Strong Efforts Led the Way in AU Softball

The AU Softball Championship Season has been a tight race at the top of the leaderboard. In this case, Odicci Alexander has been a step above as Bubba Nickles is over 200 points behind. What’s more, veterans Sierra Romero and Mia Davidson round out the top four as Megan Faraimo lurks behind.

Games 15 and 16 supplied great pitching and timely hitting for the fans. Here’s a recap of both games.

All things considered, the captain of Team Alexander was the driving force with her right arm. Alexander threw five shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out five batters in the win.

In addition, Alexander has 14 strikeouts in her last three outings in the circle after her six-strikeout effort. Kathryn Sandercock finished the final two innings to get her second save of the AU Softball season.

Overall, Alexander and Sandercock threw nearly 71 percent of their pitches for strikes. Offensively, Nickles had two RBIs as Kelsey Harshman and Alexander had an RBI apiece at the plate. In all, eight different players for Team Alexander had a hit at the plate, including Gwen Svekis

For Davidson and her squad, Nadia Taylor accounted for two of the team’s hits. Aubrey Leach and Anissa Urtez each picked up a hit in the loss.

Also, Morgan Zerkle led Team Romero in hits with three in four at-bats as they had a dozen hits. Rachel Garcia picked up the win as she struck out six in six innings of work. She allowed three hits and a run while throwing 122 pitches in the outing.

As for Faraimo and her team, Tori Vidales came through with two RBIs, and Haylie McCleney came through with one.
