Athletes Unlimited Softball Celebrates Little League Softball

In this case, Week Three of Athletes Unlimited Softball kicked off in a special place in Greenville, North Carolina. The league was there to commemorate the Little League Softball World Series at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium, home of the East Carolina Pirates.

What’s more, former Athletes Unlimited Softball champion and legendary pitcher Cat Osterman was on hand to throw out the first pitch.

Without question, the players competed hard knowing Osterman was in attendance. Here’s what went down in Games 13 and 14 in North Carolina.

Mia Davidson and her team were down 3 – 2 versus Sierra Romero and her squad entering the bottom of the sixth inning. However, things changed in a big way for Team Davidson with two swings of the bat.

Here, Erika Piancastelli hit a homer to left-center while Nadia Taylor went deep to left field. In addition, Anissa Urtez slammed a home run in the bottom of the fifth for Davidson’s team.

What’s more pitcher Mariah Mazon picked up her third win of the Championship Season, throwing two-and-a-two-thirds innings with three strikeouts.

As for Team Romero, all three of their runs came via the long ball. First, Rachel Garcia hit one in the top of the second as Jessi Warren and Lilli Piper had solo homers in the top of the fifth inning.

In total, the six home runs in this game were the most in any game this season.

Although the score of this matchup is similar to Game 13, Game 14 supplied fans with a different ending. To begin, Odicci Alexander and Megan Faraimo’s teams had a home run in the first inning. Dejah Mulipola went yard for Team Faraimo, then Danielle Gibson did so for Team Alexander.

Both home runs were two-run shots. Gibson added her third RBI in the bottom of the third inning to give Alexander’s squad a 3 – 2 lead.

However, Sis Bates tied the game the following inning with a homer to right field. That being said, extra innings were needed to decide a winner.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Aliyah Andrews hit a single to center field, scoring Alexander to win the game. Kathryn Sandercock threw three scoreless innings in the win as she struck out five batters.

Furthermore, the game lasted two hours and 39 minutes, tying the Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship Season for the longest game in league history.
