WNBA All-Star

This Years WNBA All-Star game featured team USA and WNBA All-Stars. The WNBA All-Stars pulled out a 93-85 win at Michelob Ultra in Las Vegas Wednesday night. The WNBA All-Stars outscored Team USA 27-19 in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Arike Ogunbowale took home MVP honors.

Ogunbowale was Aggressive

Ogunbowale led all scorers with 26 points in her first All-Star game; she was aggressive as Ogunbowale always is. The Shooting Guard shot 10-18 from the field and 5-10 from the three-point land, including a four-point play. You can tell when the game started; Ogunbowale was going for the MVP Award on the All-Star stage.

Jonquel Jones and Courtney Williams Played Well

Jonquel Jones and Courtney Williams came up big for the WNBA All-Stars. Jones had 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. She shot 4-7 from beyond the arc and added two blocks. Jones played a fantastic all-around game.

Williams was one of the main reasons the WNBA All-Stars won; she came up big in the fourth quarter on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Williams scored 15 points on 7-8 shooting and hit some clutch buckets down the stretch in her first All-Star game.

Team USA

Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart led Team USA in scoring; Griner scored 17 points, while Stewart scored 15. Sylvia Fowles pitched with 12 off the bench. Team USA will have two tune-up games on Friday and Sunday against Australia and Nigeria to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics.

1996 Olympic Team Honored

Before the fourth quarter, the 1996 Olympic team was honored; the players received roses from this year’s Olympic squad. The 1996 team won the first of six consecutive Gold-Medals and help put women’s basketball on the map. Lisa Leslie, a member of the 1996 team, was a coach of the WNBA All-Stars.

Three-Point Contest

Allie Quigley of the Chicago Sky won her third Three-Point Contest competition. But Jonquel Jones put up a tough fight. Quigley 28 pints to pull past Sami Whitcomb‘s 26 to get to the final round against Jones. Jones scored 24 points in the final round, and Quigley hit 26 points to win the contest. After the contest, Quigley said it would be her final one, and the crowd booed loud in dismay.
