Major Offense in Athletes Unlimited Softball

As I have stated in the past, Athletes Unlimited Softball can bring it offensively and these two games fit the criteria. Without a doubt, there was no shortage of power at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois, in games nine and ten. So, instead of me describing it, let’s recap games nine and ten of Athletes Unlimited Softball.

Game Nine: Team Jaquish Pulls Off a Comeback in 8-7 victory over Team Harshman

In the illustrious words of the great LL Cool J, don’t call it a comeback (but we might as well). Here, Jazmyn Jackson knocked in the first run for Sahvanna Jaquish’s squad with an RBI single in the first inning. However, Kelsey Harshman’s squad responded with a two-run homer by Taylor Edwards in the fourth inning to go up 3-1. Moving into the sixth inning, Team Harshman scored five runs in their half of the sixth. To start, Edwards hit an RBI single while Harshman herself knocked in three runs on a double to right-center. Also, Tori Vidales scored a run on a dropped fly ball.

Down 8-1 entering their half of the sixth, Jaquish’s squad answered with four runs of their own. Jaquish was hit by a pitch, scoring Danielle Gibson and then Gwen Svekis hit a three-run RBI double. As we head to the seventh, Team Jaquish is down 8-5 and looking for a comeback win. After Harshman’s team went scoreless in the top of the seventh, Jaquish’s team knew they needed four to win it.

First, Janae Jefferson hit a sacrifice fly to left field for an RBI to make it a two-run game at 8-6. Next, Jaquish tied the game with a two-run single, scoring Jackson and DJ Sanders. Finally, Bubba Nickles gave Team Jaquish the win with a game-winning RBI single.

Nickles was the game’s MVP 1 for her efforts, Edwards garnered MVP 2 honors and Andrea Filler got MVP 3 for her three-hit performance for Team Jaquish.

Game Ten: Team Mulipola outhit Team Eberle for an 8-2 win

While Game Nine gave us some drama, Dejah Mulipola’s squad made sure to end it early. The lone runs for Carrie Eberle’s team came in the first two innings. Shannon Rhodes had an RBI single in the first and Mia Davidson hit her first professional homer in the second. Moreover, pitcher Danielle O’Toole kept Team Eberle in check in the circle.

The lefty threw the first complete game this season in AU Softball. She allowed eight hits and had seven strikeouts. This year’s AUX Softball champion was the game’s MVP 2 for her amazing effort.

As for the offense for Team Mulipola, Haylie McCleney slammed a three-run homer and Erika Piancastelli added an RBI single in the second inning. Then, in the sixth inning, Amanda Chidester hit her league-leading fourth home run and Sam Fischer had an RBI single.

Chidester wasn’t done as she added an RBI single in the seventh while Mulipola had an RBI as well. But, without question, McCleney was the MVP 1 as Chidester earned herself MVP 3 honors.
