Lexie Brown Blows Into the Windy City

Lexie Brown is headed to Chicago after being waived by the Minnesota Lynx. Brown who cleared waivers on Monday, April 19th was signed by the Chicago Sky on Tuesday.

Brown, who was drafted 9th overall by Connecticut in 2018; will now look to play for her third squad in her short WNBA career.

Chicago who is still searching for a backup guard for Courtney Vandersloot could very well be a permanent home for Brown if she should make the squad. Brown would get the chance to learn under Vandersloot and Candace Parker.

Lexie, who spent two seasons in Minnesota, was an important part of their offense; In her first season with Minnesota, Brown saw increases in all statistical categories. Finishing the summer with 7.6 PPG while shooting 40% from the floor and 38% from 3.

After a remarkable season in 2019, Brown was hoping to capitalize on her progress, however, a concussion inside the bubble would see her participate in just 17 games for the Minnesota Lynx before she departed from the team.

Brown goes to Chicago looking to fight for a final roster spot. Her style of play gives her an advantage inside Chicago’s fast-paced offense. Brown’s ability to stretch the floor, get to the rim, and free throw line could see her with a lot of playing time in Chicago’s second unit.

Just think of how amazing Lexie would look on the floor alongside Kahleah Copper, Stefanie Dolson, and Gabby Williams.

Not only would Brown bring another exciting piece to Chicago’s offense on the floor, but off the floor, she fits right in with Chicago’s Sky funny and vibrant team energy. Brown launched her YouTube channel that has gained over 5,000 subscribers.
