Excellent Pitching in Control Entering Final Series of AUX

AUX Softball is entering the home stretch as players are looking to position themselves atop the leaderboard. All signs point to having a new champion this season. Without question, pitching and timely defense were the story in the final two games of Series Two. Now, here is a recap of games Eleven and Twelve.

Game Eleven: Team Leach outpitched Team Taylor in a 3 – 2 victory

Here, it was all about the circle in this matchup as both teams combined for just five runs. More specifically, the effort of right-hander Peyton St. George led the way for Aubrey Leach’s squad. St. George went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six.

It was the fourth complete game by a pitcher in AUX Softball history. The offense for Team Leach came from the bats of Aliyah Andrews and Jordan Roberts. Firstly, Roberts hit an RBI single to right field in the second inning. Meanwhile, Andrews had a single, bringing in two runs in the fourth inning.

Nadia Taylor’s team had a great effort in the circle as they didn’t allow a run after the fourth inning. Moreover, Delanie Wisz was the sole provider of offense for Taylor’s squad with a two-run single to left field.

All things considered, Andrea Filler’s squad put this Series Two finale away early on. To begin, Anissa Urtez delivered an RBI single while Amanda Lorenz slammed a two-run homer in the first inning. Jessi Warren hit a three-run blast to left center in inning number five as Filler hit a solo shot in the seventh.

It would be more than enough offense for pitcher Rachel Garcia. She threw the second complete game of the day and the fifth in AUX history. Garcia allowed just three hits, two runs and struck out five. It’s important to note that she ranks third in both AUX and Championship season history with 106 strikeouts.

It was a rough go for Leach’s team after their first win earlier in the day. Tori Vidales and Andrews produced the two runs for Team Leach in the matchup.

Who will be the captains for the AUX Series Three finale?

Garcia is the only player to have crossed the 1,000-point threshold with 1,054 and will be a captain for the second time. Leach’s second place will make her a captain for the second straight series.

Finally, Warren will be a first-time captain as she sits in third place on the leaderboard.  More importantly, we will see if Garcia can hold to become the Season Two Champion of AUX.
