Candace Parker: Went From one Point-Gawddd to a Point-God

Candace Parker Point Gawddd

Candace Parker dedicated 13-years to LA, however, perhaps it was time for a change of scenery and coaching staff. No one knows what happened within the organization between Parker and her coaching staff. 13-years of loyalty and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 13-years of Purple and Gold, one championship, and countless All-Star appearances will never be forgotten. Candace Parker went from one Point-Gawddd to a Point-God.

Parker played with one of the best playmakers in the league better known as Point Gawddd in Chelsea Gray. Chelsea a three-time All-Star, a champion, and played five years with the Sparks. The bond Gray and Parker have on/off-court is magical and unforgettable. They made strides and memories along their journey together. Now they are opponents instead of teammates. And that is the excitement every WNBA fan is looking forward to. She also departed LA and now has joined the Las Vegas Aces.

Welcome Home Candace Parker

On Monday, it was official that Parker became a Chicago Sky player. How surreal is that? To even write that CP3 is going to be wearing blue and yellow instead of purple and gold. It’s going to take a while to get used to it, however, it’s a fresh start for the veteran. She will be going where it all started for her which is Chicago. New coach, new teammates, however, Chicago is home. Parker will be teaming with one of the best point guards in the game.

They call her Point-God Courtney Vandersloot. Last season Vandersloot averaged 10 AST per game. Did you read that right?!? Can you imagine what type of records Sloot is going to break this season? Having a veteran like Parker by her side. The accolades are endless for this team at least on paper. Once the season starts we are going to witness how well this team is going to jell. Offensively they got a great team with many shooting and scoring weapons. Sloot averaged 49 % FG last season and having that type of guard that can facilitate the ball plus score is a win-win.

Parker is going to have plenty of options offensively having new teammates like Diamond DeShields, Allie Quigley, Azurá Stevens, Gabby Williams, and Stefanie Dolson. The Sky have shooters, playmakers, and the best 3-point shooter in the league in my opinion. Candace Parker went from one Point-Gawddd to a Point-God.

Cheyenne Parker

Defensively the Sky need a lot of work, they just lost a great defensive player in Cheyenne Parker.

Cheyenne averaged 6.4 TRB last season so they have to replace her rebounding efforts. CP also shot 55.4 % from the field and her three-point percentage improved as well with 46.9 %. Cheyenne finished with 26 steals and 18 blocks last season. She was the best defensive player on the team besides Stevens. They lost a weapon but gained a goat.
