BREAKING: Caitlin Clark to declare for the 2024 WNBA Draft

University of Iowa senior Caitlin Clark has decided to declare for the 2024 WNBA Draft. This now puts all speculation to rest. We can only assume that the Indiana Fever, who have the Number 1 pick, and their fans are collectively licking their lips. Not only will Clark make an impact as a shooter, but her ability to pass and get to the rim. This adds more scoring opportunities alongside Kelsey Mitchell, newly acquired Katie Lou Samuelson, and Aliyah Boston.

Clark has great court vision, and this step will serve to improve her defensive skills along with learning a new system. I think Clark will be a sponge, eager to learn what playing in the WNBA means. There will be new teammates, coaches, and fans. All of whom will be ready to embrace such a rising young talent like Clark. Whatever records she has set or surpassed will become great memories, and her impending WNBA career will be a new mountain to climb if she so desires.

Clark declaring for the 2024 WNBA Draft

Will she contribute to making the Fever a better team? There is no doubt about that. Clark’s contribution and its immediacy will greatly depend upon how she meshes with the team and buys into the system. Of course, she will be scrutinized rather closely. There will always be detractors who, for whatever reason, will feel the need to look for the negative. Compared to the positive response she is sure to receive, those voices will be drowned out by the clamor of support for a remarkable young player.

Some may call her generational, which may be true. I just call her pretty damn good.

When is the 2024 WNBA Draft to see if Caitlin Clark goes No. 1?

The 2024 WNBA Draft will be held on Monday, April 15 at the famed BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music). We will wait and see if the reigning Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year will be heading to the Fever to begin her WNBA career.
