Dream Signs Kaela Davis

The Atlanta Dream announced today that they signed free-agent Kaela Davis. Davis is a guard who was drafted 10th overall by the Dallas Wings in 2017. The Dream signed Davis to a seven-day contract. As a result of signing Davis, the Dream waived guard Alexis Jones. The Dream signs Kaela Davis.

College Career

Kaela Davis started off her collegiate career at Georgia Tech, where she would then play two years with them. At Georgia Tech, she became the fastest player in school history to have 1,000 points. She also was announced as a two-time First All-ACC player. After two years, she transferred to the University of South Carolina. After having to sit out one year due to NCAA transfer rules, she played her final year at South Carolina. During her redshirt junior year, her last year, she helped lead South Carolina to their first-ever National Championship alongside familiar WNBA players such as A’ja Wilson and Allisha Gray.

She also helped lead this team to their third consecutive SEC regular-season and tournament championship. She was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Stockton Region and was named on the SEC Tournament All-Tournament Team.

WNBA Career

Kaela Davis was drafted 10th overall to the Dallas Wings, alongside college teammate Allisha Gray. Kaela was also the first rookie in franchise history to score 20 points in a season opener. She had a career-high in points her rookie year against Chicago with 23 points. She was later named to the All-Rookie Team. Over the course of her three years with Dallas, she averaged 5.7 PPG, 1.9 RPG, and 1.5 AST after appearing in 93 games. She is an explosive guard with height and the ability to crash the boards as well as stretch the floor by shooting threes.

Dream Signs Davis, What’s Next?

The Dream currently has a record of 4-11. Before the season began, several players from the Dream opted out such as Renee Montgomery and Tiffany Hayes. The Dream landed the third draft pick where they landed guard, Chennedy Carter. Carter has only appeared in eight games and is currently out with an ankle injury and it is unclear on when she will be back. Davis will be a huge addition to this team as they try to make a run to clinch a playoff stop. Hopefully, we will see Davis on the court soon and she can make an impact on the Dream team. And there you have it the Dream signs, Kaela Davis.

About Aislyn Jowers

I've grown up going to NCCAW games, when Tiffany Mitchell was drafted to the Indiana Fever in 2016 it opened the doors to the WNBA for me. Ever since then, I have been an avid watcher of both the WNBA and NCAAW games. Instead of bothering my family and friends with my thoughts about the game, I decided I will write about it instead.
