Athletes Unlimited Softball Wraps Up Amazing Week

The Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship Season is getting more intriguing as the leaderboard is getting tighter at the top. Games 17 and 18 were low scoring in comparison to some previous matchups this season.

As a result, there’s a chance that a pitcher will be the champion for the third time in four seasons. Now, here’s a recap of the final two games of Week Three.

Game 17: Team Alexander completes sweep in 4 – 1 win over Team Romero

All things considered, Odicci Alexander and her squad’s lucky number must be four. They’ve scored four runs in each of their three wins. What’s more, Alyssa Denham threw four innings and allowed four hits in the win as Kathryn Sandercock got the save.

The save is Sandercock’s third this season, tying her for the most career saves in Championship Season history. As for the offense for Alexander’s team, it was provided by Danielle Gibson and Bubba Nickles

First, Gibson hit a two-run double in the top of the third and slammed a solo homer to center field in the seventh. Next, Nickles hit a solo home run as well in inning number five. Sierra Romero and her team’s lone run came from Rachel Garcia in the bottom of the first on a fielder’s choice. Morgan Zerkle scored on the play.

For Mia Davidson and her team, a strong effort in the circle and some homers came through big time. Mariah Mazon tossed five-and-a-third scoreless innings with just two hits allowed in relief.

Furthermore, two of the three runs by Team Davidson came via home runs by Megan Wiggins and Anissa Urtez. The other run came from a Sam Fischer RBI triple in the top of the sixth inning.

It’s important to note that it was Urtez ‘s 14th time making it to the 150-point plateau in her career. She tied with Aleshia Ocasio all-time in Athletes Unlimited Softball history. Megan Faraimo and her team’s only run came from the bat of Caroline Jacobson, who had an RBI double.

Both teams were 4-for-22 combined with runners on base as well as 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Meet the Captains for Week Four of Athletes Unlimited Softball

Entering the next to last week of the season, Alexander is a captain for the second straight week. Nickles will lead Team Orange as she trails Alexander by under 200 points on the leaderboard.

Additionally, Urtez is a first-time captain like Nickles and will lead Team Blue. Finally, Davidson will be captaining Team Purple as she sits fourth on the leaderboard.
