An Unusual Day in Athletes Unlimited Softball

Overall, on the second day of Athletes Unlimited Softball, it was quite the mixed bag in terms of Games Three and Game Four. One game gave great pitching while the other game had some offense. All things considered, there was something for everybody who loves softball. Without further ado, here are the recaps for Games Three and Four of Athletes Unlimited Softball.

Game Three: Team Chidester get a Close Win Over Team Zerkle

To begin, Morgan Zerkle’s team scored two runs in the first inning to get the early lead on Amanda Chidester’s squad. The runs came from an RBI single from shortstop Sydney Romero, who also scored the other run in the inning. Chidester’s team got on the board in the second inning with a homer by shortstop Anissa Urtez to center field.

Next, Zerkle got a sacrifice fly RBI in their half of the fourth inning. However, Chidester took the ball over the right-field wall to tie the game 3-3 in the inning. Right fielder Bubba Nickles got a two-run RBI double to put Chidester’s team up 4-3.

Nickles added to her day at the plate with a two-run shot in the fifth inning to pull ahead 6-3. Yet, Team Zerkle closed the game thanks to a two-run RBI single by Zerkle to make the game 6-5. Despite the late chase, Team Chidester pulled out the win as Nickles was the game’s MVP 1 and Urtez MVP 2. The rookie pitcher Danielle Watson earned MVP 3 honor after throwing two innings, allowing one hit, and striking out one.

Game Four: Pitching and defense Propels Team Eberle Over Team Ocasio

As I have noted earlier, day two of Athletes Unlimited Softball was an interesting one. This game was won in the circle and Carrie Eberle’s squad didn’t disappoint. First, pitcher Occidi Alexander got the start for Team Eberle. The right-hander went three innings, allowing three hits and striking out one.

Following Alexander in the circle was rookie Greta Cecchetti, and then lefty Haylie Wagner. Both Cecchetti and Wagner threw an inning apiece in their appearances. Lastly, Eberle came to pitch the last two innings, striking out one to get the save. All in all, Eberle and Alexander were the MVP 2 and MVP 3 of the game, respectively.

Game 1 MVP went to infielder Kelsey Harshman, who knocked in the game’s lone run in the second inning. What’s more, she flashed the leather and got an unassisted double play in the second inning.
