A Master Class of Offense in AU Softball

In truth, games fifteen and sixteen of AU Softball were centered around the tremendous offense displays. The most compelling evidence is that there were a combined 31 runs scored between these games. What’s more, I’m not sure if the runs haven’t stopped yet. That being said, let’s recap games fifteen and sixteen of AU Softball.

Game Fifteen: Early offense leads Team McCleney to a 10-2 victory over Team Chidester

In this case, Haylie McCleney’s team scored 10 runs over the first three innings to end it early. To start, Amanda Lorenz hit a three-run homer to left field in inning number one. Lorenz garnered MVP 3 honors with her performance at the plate. Next, five runs came across the board for McCleney’s squad from Taylor Edwards, Mia Davidson, and Danielle Gibson.

Edwards hit a three-run double while Davidson and Gibson each had an RBI single in that second inning. Lastly, Victoria Hayward extended her hitting streak to 15 straight games with a two-run shot in the third inning.

Rachel Garcia went the distance for Team McCleney, allowing five hits, two runs and striking out six. Here, she was the game’s MVP 2 for efforts in the circle. As for the runs allowed by Garcia, it came from a solo homer by Morgan Zerkle and an RBI single by Kiki Stokes-O’Connor. Despite Amanda Chidester’s team losing, pitcher Maggie Balint was the MVP 1 for her four and third innings. She allowed six hits and a run, striking out six in the game.

Game Sixteen: Team Mulipola scores seven in the fourth to win 12 – 7 over Team Jaquish

This game gave us 19 runs and 25 hits as the first three innings had two runs scored. Sahvanna Jaquish’s team started off with an RBI single by Bubba Nickles in the first inning. In response, Lilli Piper got an RBI single for Dejah Mulipola’s squad in the second inning. However, inning number four saw a total of 11 runs between both teams. For Team Jaquish, their three runs came from a two-run homer by Kelsey Harshman and a homer by Tori Vidales

Yet, Team Mulipola scored the other seven runs in that inning, including another RBI by Piper. Piper garnered MVP 2 honors for her two-RBI performance. In addition, RBIs came from Jazmyn Jackson, Hannah Flippen and Andrea Filler, while Aliyah Andrews knocked in two runs. Andrews on a throwing error scored the seventh run.

Harshman brought in the final two runs for Team Jaquish, while Mulipola’s squad scored four runs in the final two innings. The game’s MVP 3 was Harshman, for her four-RBI efforts at the dish.

Flippen slammed a solo home run as Janae Jefferson and Jordan Roberts had RBIs in the sixth inning. Ultimately, Flippen was the game’s MVP 1 for her three-hit game. Finally, Mulipola hit a solo shot to left field in the seventh to cap off the game.
