A Fast Start to Athletes Unlimited Softball

Sadly, we are entering the final week of the Athletes Unlimited Softball season, which has been a joy to watch. However, there is still so much to play for as we seek to find a Season Three champion. Dejah Muliopla entered the week atop the leaderboard but there is some competition behind her. Who stood out to make their case? For answers, let us recap games twenty-five and twenty-six of Athletes Unlimited Softball.

To begin Week Five, Alyssa Denham’s squad came out swinging as they put up seven runs in the third inning. In this case, Team Denham slammed three homers courtesy of Amanda Lorenz, Danielle Gibson, and Gwen Svekis. Also, Tori Vidales added an RBI double in the inning. Lorenz hit a two-run shot, Gibson a three-run homer, and Svekis a solo home run. In addition, the home runs by Gibson and Svekis are the fourth time this season we have seen back-to-back homers.

Vidales was far from done, bringing in three runs via the long ball in the seventh inning. What’s more, Vidales extended her hitting streak to 11 straight games with her two-hit performance, winning MVP 1 honors. Lorenz garnered MVP 2 honors thanks to her two-RBI effort.

For Amanda Chidester’s team, they got RBIs by Taylor Edwards, Jazmyn Jackson, and Chidester. The team captain hit a two-run shot in the fifth inning to help her cause. Despite losing, Chidester took home MVP 3 honors.

Game Twenty-Six: All “Rhodes” led Team McCleney to victory over Team Mulipola 5 – 4

Unquestionably, Shannon Rhodes has been great at the plate this season with two homers in this game. Here, Rhodes hit a homer to right field in the second inning and another to left-center in the fifth. Rhodes is tied with Mulipola for the home run lead with eight as Mulipola went deep in the fourth to keep pace. Mulipola has six homers in her last seven games as Rhodes has slammed six homers in her last five appearances.

Rhodes was the MVP 1 of the game with her performance at the plate, moving up six spots on the leaderboard. Haylie McCleney’s team also got three runs from the bat of Sam Fischer, who went yard in the first inning. Fischer got MVP 2 honors with her three-RBI game. MVP 3 was given to pitcher Peyton St. George, who threw two-and-a-third innings, allowing two hits with a strikeout.

The other two runs for Mulipola’s team came from an RBI single by Sierra Romero and Mia Davidson, who was hit by a pitch, scoring a run.
