Charli Collier Declares for the WNBA Draft

Charlie Collier

Charli Collier announced that she would forgo her senior year and declare for the WNBA Draft, Collier is projected to be the No1 pick in the Draft and that pick belong to the Dallas Wings.

“After long consideration, thought, and prayer, I’ve decided to fulfill my lifelong dream and declare for the 2021 WNBA draft,” she told ESPN’s Holly Rowe. “I feel like it’s just time for me to fulfill the next step in my life. You know, it’s God’s plan. I’m ready.”

Texas

This season Collier is averaging 21 points, 12.2 rebounds per game on 51% shooing from the field. Collier has improved every year at Texas; as a freshman, she averaged 5.9 points, and the next season she improved to 13.1 points per game.

Against Texas State, Collier scored a career-high 44 points, with 16 rebounds on 14-17 shooting from the field and 14-15 from the free-throw line. Also, this season she has 17 double-doubles. She is proven to be worthy of the No.1 pick. Collier plays well in the post and has a good face-up game that should translate on the WNBA level.

Charli Collier would be a massive addition to the Wings roster. Dallas just recently waived center Astou Ndour. Collier could be an excellent post presence, and along with Satou Sabally, they could make a dangerous front line. If Collier were to play with Wings, she would be closer to her family.

“That’d be a blessing,” Collier told Rowe. “It would be better for my mom, travel-wise. But I’ll be grateful for any team that picks me up.”

The Wings have four picks in the first round; it will be interesting to see if Dallas moves some of those picks for some veteran players. If not, the Wings will need to find spots for the rookies with a packed roster already.
