Banks and Naomi Suspended in Massive Move

As noted in a previous piece here, Sasha Banks and Naomi left the arena during Monday Night Raw. As a result, WWE has suspended and stripped both Banks and Naomi of their Women’s Tag Team titles for their actions.

On Friday Night SmackDown, announcer Michael Cole informed the WWE universe of their suspension. What’s more, Cole announced there would be a tournament to crown new tag team champions.

It was reported that Banks and Naomi exited Raw over the finish of a match. To clarify, it was supposed to be a six-pack challenge and the winner was to face Bianca Belair at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. However, Banks and Naomi disagreed with creative as Naomi was to be the winner of that match.

It was also reported that both superstars placed their tag team belts on the desk of WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis. In addition, Naomi has removed anything WWE-related off her Twitter and WWE removed both superstars’ merchandise from their website.

To begin, I’ve been a huge wrestling fan for as long as I can remember and I enjoy it a great deal. Honestly, women’s wrestling holds a special place in my heart and I’m disappointed in WWE right now. Both superstars, known as Boss Glow, elevated the tag team titles and made them relevant.

By all means, fans were invested in these titles because of Boss Glow and WWE took that away. However, in reality, it’s one thing to punish them but another to try and erase them. Removing their merchandise, and losing money in the process, is not a great look for the company.

Former WWE Champion Mickie shared her thoughts about the situation, saying she applauds them both:

“I actually applaud them standing in their convictions and how they felt if that’s how they felt.”

In the end, team Boss Glow doesn’t need any titles to prove they’re the real champions in all of this.
