A Loaded WrestleMania 40 Card for the WWE’s Female Talent

As WrestleMania 40 is days away, Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will be filled with WWE fans for the two-day event. This includes a showcase of the best that the women’s division has to offer. In the city of Brotherly Love, both women’s titles will be on the line as well as a star-studded six-woman tag match. That being said, here is a preview of those matches.

Women’s World Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch

This is a main-event level match between two of the best superstars in WWE on Night One. Rhea Ripley and her reign as the Women’s World Champion began at last year’s WrestleMania. She defeated Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium. Since then, Ripley will face arguably her toughest challenge at WrestleMania 40 in “The Man” Becky Lynch. Lynch clinched the opportunity by defeating five other superstars in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match in February.

All things considered, both women understand what it takes to compete on the grandest stage of the all. It will be Ripley’s fifth match and fourth singles bout at the premium live event. For The Man, it will be her eighth appearance and seventh one-on-one match. Their WrestleMania match will be their first singles match since November 2019 in NXT. I would not mind if this match kicked off the show as it won’t likely be the main event. This has instant classic all over it.

Bianca Belair, Naomi & Jade Cargill vs. Damage CTRL

The other women’s match on Night One of WrestleMania 40 features a mix of the present and future of WWE. Jade Cargill made her main roster on SmackDown as she inked a contract with the brand. That same night of her debut saw Bianca Belair face Dakota Kai in the main event of the show. Although Belair picked up the win, Asuka and Kairi Sane aka the Kabuki Warriors attacked her.

Naomi made her way down to help Belair but to no avail, as it became three-on-two. However, the odds evened up rather quickly as Cargill appeared once again. A storm hit the ring as she took out all three members of Damage CTRL. In the end, Belair, Naomi, and Cargill stood tall in the ring as SmackDown went off the air. General manager Nick Aldis made the match soon after the show.

The newest member of the WWE roster is paired with champions as Belair and Naomi have won champions in their career. Damage CTRL is not lacking in the championship department as the Kabuki Warriors are the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. This match will see Cargill’s strength and athleticism on full display. Overall, expect all six superstars to show off their talents in the squared circle at WrestleMania 40.

There is a chance the Kabuki Warriors will be challenged for their titles by Cargill with either Belair or Naomi somewhere in the future.

WWE Women’s Championship: IYO SKY (c) vs. Bayley

The third and final women’s match on the WrestleMania 40 card takes place on Night Two for the WWE Women’s Championship. If there was ever a match that felt personal, this is it. Bayley added to her already Hall of Fame career by winning the Women’s Royal Rumble in January. The Triple Crown champion had her choice of whom she was going to face at WrestleMania.

IYO SKY won the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam last year as she cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Belair. It would have seemed that Bayley would not go after SKY and her title. Yet, seeds of dissension were planted within Damage CTRL, a group that made its debut at SummerSlam in 2022. The relationship between Damage CTRL and its founder came to a head when the group attacked her in the ring in February. Bayley got on the mic and made her choice of SKY.

It will be Bayley’s sixth WrestleMania appearance and her first singles match. It will be SKY’s second WrestleMania appearance and also her first singles match. In general, expect this match to be physical and as personal as it can get.
