As Series Two of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League gets underway, all four teams are seeking to keep the momentum going. The action is shifting down south to Sulphur, Louisiana and Chattanooga, Tennessee after opening in Rosemont and Wichita. It’s important to note that Game Eight between the Talons and Blaze was postponed in Chattanooga at Jim Frost Stadium due to weather.
Games Seven and Nine were played at McMurry Park in Sulphur. The Volts and Bandits squared off, and let’s recap those games.
Game Seven: Extra Time Needed in the Pelican State
In the beginning, the Volts-Bandits matchup saw the focus on the circle as Sam Landry and Lexi Kilfoyl facing off. Landry was the top pick of the Volts in this year’s AUSL Draft. Kilfoyl went No. 1 overall to the Bandits in the Allocation Draft. However, the focus became more about the offense than the pitching. Erin Coffel hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to give the Bandits an early 1-0 lead. Next, Delanie Wisz hit a solo homer and Skylar Wallace had an RBI single, adding to the Bandits lead.
The Volts bats came to life in the top of the third, with McKenzie Clark hitting a solo home run and Tiare Jennings hitting a three-run blast, giving them a lead. The Bandits tied it up in the fourth on Jordan Roberts homer to center field. More offense in the seventh as Amanda Lorenz scored on a throwing error for the 5-4 lead. Also, Roberts made it 5-5 thanks to an RBI single as fans witnessed extra softball in Sulphur.
After a scoreless eighth, Wisz drove in the game-winner with an RBI single as the Bandits win an instant classic 6-5.

For the Bandits, Odicci Alexander picked up the win, going five innings in relief. Alexander allowed two hits and walks with three strikeouts.
Game Nine: Bats Stayed Going in Sulphur
This game, on World Softball Day, was also the second game between the Volts and Bandits in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. All things considered, the Bandits led the way, scoring five runs in the first two innings. Similar to the previous game, Coffel hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the first for the early 1-0 lead. Sydney McKinney hit a two-run single as Wallace and Bubba Nickles-Camarena added RBIs in their half of the second. Additionally, McKinney hit a solo shot in the fourth to center field.

Nonetheless, the Volts would not be shut. Sis Bates hit an RBI single in the top of the fourth, their lone run of the game. Devyn Netz got her first win with the Bandits, going three-and-a-third innings in the start. She allowed a hit with two strikeouts and Emiley Kennedy threw the remaining three-and-two-thirds of the 6-1 victory. Kennedy sat down two batters, allowing five hits.
