With the inaugural AUSL season nearing its conclusion, the races for the awards is on. Several players in contention for Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year have strong cases. One team is already headed to the postseason with one spot up for grabs. What’s more, fans in Salt Lake City witnessed the AUSL debut of a highly talented player with a “super” connection. Now, let’s recap Game 37 matchup between the Blaze and Talons.
Game 37: Clawing Away At Dumke Family Softball Stadium
All things considered, the Talons have played exceptionally well throughout the AUSL as they’re set for Tuscaloosa at the end of July. Yet, they faced a Blaze team looking to make a run (with some help) to be that second team. Offensively, Kayla Kowalik got the Blaze on the board in the top of the first with an RBI on a fielder’s choice. In the end, that would be all the offense for them in the game.
In the bottom of the first, Sierra Sacco scored on a throwing error as Tori Vidales hit an RBI sacrifice fly to get the 2-1 lead. Bri Ellis added an RBI single in the fourth inning as did Hannah Flippen in the fifth. Following a scoreless sixth and seventh inning, the Talons picked up win No. 15 with the 4-1 victory. Georgina Corrick notched her season-leading sixth win in the circle. She went four innings, allowing five hits, an earned run, and struck out two.

Also, Montana Fouts got her third save on the AUSL season, leading all pitchers. Fouts allowed a hit with two strikeouts in three innings of work. In the loss, Aubrey Leach went two-for-four at the plate for the Blaze.
A Long Awaited Debut For The Talons
Adding to already deep roster, the Talons actived former UCLA star Maya Brady. Brady was on the team’s Injured List since the beginning of the AUSL season because of a Grade 2 hamstring strain. She is the niece of seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady and two-time World Series champion Kevin Youkilis.
While the Talons are second in the AUSL in slugging percentage, Brady can help there. Her career .757 slugging percentage at UCLA is second in school history. She went two-of-three at the plate on Wednesday in the win. Fans will see Brady’s impact a across the next couple of weeks for the Talons.
