With Series Two in the inaugural AUSL Cup in the books, the games went a bit different. In Game Eight, Team Blue, led by outfielder Kendra Falby faced off against pitcher Sarah Willis, the captain of the Orange team. Game Nine saw Team Orange in action versus catcher Kayla Kowalik and the Gold team. That being said, here is a recap of the games in Rosemont.
Game Eight: A Tight Game At Parkway Bank Sports Complex
To begin the action, Willis’ squad took the early lead. In the bottom of the first thanks to an RBI triple by Sydney Romero and a solo home run by Tori Vidales for a 2-0 lead. However, Team Falby got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with a Danielle Gibson Whorton RBI single.

Michaela Edenfield made it a one-run game for Team Blue with an RBI double in the fifth inning, but it wasn’t enough. Ultimately, the Orange squad got the 3-2 victory.

Vidales picked up MVP 1 honors as she went two-for-three at the plate, including the homer. Next, MVP 2 and 3 honors were pitchers Georgina Corrick and Taylor McQuillin, respectively. Corrick went four innings in the circle for Team Blue, allowing three hits while striking out four.
As for McQuillin, she notched her AUSL Cup-tying second save. She went two-and-two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and also striking out two. Additionally, the Defensive MVP of the game was Sydney Romero.
Game Nine: Sister Power On Display In Rosemont
In this game, both teams were undefeated as Team Kowalik faced Team Willis in the final game of Series Two. Offensively, the game was scoreless for the first four innings until the Gold team scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ali Newland picked up an RBI via a walk as Kowalik hit a two-run single to left field in the inning.
Sierra Romero slammed a solo homer to left field, giving Team Gold a 4-0 lead. Not to be outdone, sister went deep in the top of the seventh for Team Orange. In the end, Kowalik and Team Gold ended Series Two 2-0 with the 4-1 win. Once again, Kowailk won MVP honors, this time as the MVP 1 as she went two-of-three at the plate with the two RBIs.

Sierra was the MVP 2 thanks to her homer while pitcher Emma Lemley took home MVP 3 honors. Lemley allowed two hits and struck out two in four innings of work. Finally, Outfielder Caroline Jacobsen was the Defensive MVP of the game for Kowalik’s squad.

Team Captains For Week Three Of The AUSL Cup
To the surprise of none, Kowalik is a captain once again for Team Gold, leading the way with 860 points. Leading the Orange team in Week Three will be pitcher Keilani Ricketts with 604 points as UTIL Danieca Coffey will captain Team Blue with 550 total points.
Coffey tied with Kowalik and Ricketts with 490 win points. Last but not least, pitcher Devyn Netz edged out fellow pitcher Mariah Mazón (500 points) to lead team Purple with 530 points. She and Mazón led all players with 500 win points.

Series Three gets underway on Aug 24 at Rosemont with the doubleheader. The first game will be Team Coffey versus Team Ricketts while Team Kowalik faces off against Team Netz. It’s important to note the action will start at 3:00 pm ET on ESPNU and ESPN+.
