AUSL Announces Host Cities For Their Sophomore Season

Based on the successful inaugural season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), fans are now getting something more this upcoming season. It was announced that all six teams will have permanent homes in different cities across the United States. The cities will be located in the top 50 television markets in the country. Here is a look at where each team will play come this summer.

Utah Talons

Starting with the defending champions, the Talons will head to the Beehive State in Utah. They will play their home games at Dumke Family Stadium at University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Moreover, it will be a homecoming for infielder Hannah Flippen. Flippen played three seasons with the Utes, hitting 30 home runs with a .395 career batting average. Expect her and this team to look to bring a championship to Salt Lake City.

Chicago Bandits

All things considered, Chicago is one of the biggest sports town in the nation with a history connected to the AUSL. Since 2020, the league has played games at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont. This is where the Bandits will look to carve another in the city’s love of softball as they look to make it back to the Championship game.

Carolina Blaze

In the Carolinas, winning championships is nothing new. Here, the Blaze will play at Smith Family Stadium at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The venue is quite familiar to players Jala Wright and Ana Gold. Wright spent three seasons with the Blue Devils as she was the ACC Pitcher of the Year in 2024. Also, she has 431 strikeouts for them

For Gold, she has a career .306 batting average with 204 hits in four years with Duke. Last season’s AUSL Rookie of the Year amassed a career .614 slugging percentage with them.

Texas Volts

The adage “Everything is bigger than Texas” rings true when it comes to softball in the Lone Star State. Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas, the new home of the Volts, was full of fans in the seats last season. Now, it looks to bring a jolt of success as the squad have some deep connections. First, first-year Volts head coach Ricci Woodard has spent over two decades as the head coach of the Texas State Bobcats. She has 878 career wins.

Next, Mia Scott played four seasons with the Texas Longhorns as she started 255 games with the team. What’s more, Scott was a two-time NCAA Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team selection. Last, but not least. general manager Cat Osterman is a Longhorns legend whose legacy remains with the University. She is the Longhorns’ all-time leader in Earned Run Average (0.51), shutouts (85), and no-hitters (20).

Oklahoma City Spark

When fans think of softball, Oklahoma City could make the case as the face of the sport in the country. It is the location of USA Softball and the Softball Hall of Fame. The state of Oklahoma is also home to one of the softball teams in college, the Sooners. Head coach Patty Gasso has led the Sooners to eight National Championships and is the current head coach of USA Softball.

Spark fans will also have some familiar faces on the roster. Sydney Romero, Kinzie Hansen, and Haley Lee all played collegiately for Gasso and the Sooners. It will plays its home games at Tom Heath Field at Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City.

Portland Cascade

The growth of women’s sports in America is growing and the city of Portland, Oregon has been influencial in that respect. Home games will take place at Hillsboro Ballpark in Hillsboro, Oregon. Two players on the Cascade roster who know the Pacific Northwest quite well. Paige Sinicki played at the University of Oregon for four years (2022 – 2025). She is a two-time Pac-12 All-Defensive Team while making the Big Ten All-Defensive Team in her senior season.

A member of Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball’s Player Executive Committee, Sis Bates played at the University of Washington. From 2017 to 2021, Bates started in all 261 of her games with the Huskies. She is Washington’s all-time leader in hits with 320.
