As Series Two of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League season comes to a close, the fans were in full force in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Sulphur, Louisiana. With rain delays and a doubleheader, there was no shortage of softball. Only one game remained in this series as the Talons looked to sweep the Blaze at Jim Frost Stadium in Chattanooga. That being said, here’s a recap of Game 12 of the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League season.
Game 12: Claws Dug In and Fired Up For a Win
In this game, the Talons scored the first two runs of the game. This came courtesy of a Hannah Flippen single in the top of the first inning. Also, the Blaze scored in the bottom of the inning with RBI singles by Korbe Otis and Ana Gold. Jadelyn Allchin and Tori Vidales added an RBI apiece in the second inning for the Talons for a 4-2 lead. In the following inning, Arkansas Razorbacks star Bri Ellis hit her first home run of her professional career to right field, making it a 5-2 game.
This is not a drill.

However, the Blaze’s bats found some heat in the fourth, scoring six runs in the frame. Kayla Kowalik and Gold put up RBIs, but the bat of Baylee Klingler cleared the bases for a grand slam. With the lead of 8-5, the offense of the Blaze cooled for the remainder of the game. The Talons plated at least one run in the final three innings of the contest. First, Sierra Sacco went deep with a solo home run in the fifth. Afterwards, Sydney Romero had an RBI via a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Finally, Flippen slammed a three-run homer to right-center to give the Talons the 10-8 lead and the sweep. Megan Faraimo notched the win after going two-and-a-third innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with a strikeout.
